Marcus Miller

For weeks Marcus circled my gym in his car, working up the courage to come inside. He walked through the door of my club at 490 pounds. Today he walks through that very same door a new man, weighing 349 pounds.

Sure, the fitness business is about making money, but more importantly, it’s about saving lives. I have not made a single penny from Marcus. He did not have the extra income to pay for a gym membership, even though he couldn’t afford not to join. I made a deal with Marcus: if he allowed me share his success story with the community as an inspiration for others, he was welcome at my gym any time.

I like to tell people that Marcus Miller has lost over 1,000 pounds in eight months. Marcus now works out almost every single day, and while he may have “only” lost 141 pounds himself, his little wins along the way have inspired others around him to lose more than 900 collective pounds. When members see Marcus working out, they are motivated to push harder, stronger and longer. He is a lighthouse of hope for every person that meets him.

At the onset of Marcus’ journey, he may have felt alone, but today he has a full cheering section behind him, encouraging him every step of the way. Marcus’ famous quote around the gym is, “Sweat is just fat crying!” His positive attitude, determination and work ethic are contagious.

When Marcus joined the Anytime Fitness family, I promised him that he would change his life. Looking back I realize it was he who changed mine. As Marcus has lost weight, I have gained a friend.

Keep up the great work Marcus! (I’m gonna use that quote — don’t worry, I’ll give you the credit, but I’m gonna use it!)  And, Brian, how awesome.  A lot of times, all anyone needs is to know that SOMEONE believes in them — before they can go out, accomplish great things & begin believing in themselves!  This makes me LOVE ME MY ANYTIME FITNESS FAMILY all the more!
